AWorld Heritage Site is an area or landmark that has been designated to be of outstanding value to humanity. Selected by the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO), these sites have been identified for protection and preservation of cultural and natural heritage. They are legally protected by international treaties and belong to all the peoples of the world wherever they are located.

It has never been my goal to visit a World Heritage Site for the sake of ticking it off the list. I have sometimes come across a site while visiting a place in a country by chance. This page lists all the World Heritage Sites that I have visited in my travels. For the sites I have written about, you can click on the link to read more.
