Ask someone what is the first thing that comes to mind if you mention the country Peru and most likely they would think of Machu Picchu. This the famous Inca ruin has been pictured so many times since it was first discovered in 1911. Another famous answer would be the classic Inca Trail that for leads you up to Machu Picchu. But the country has so much more to offer with a wonderful mixture of history, culture and wildlife.
You can discover the mysterious history of the Inca people. Spectacular landscapes such as the Amazon rain forest and hidden wildlife awaits the adventurous traveler that ventures into the depth of the South American country. And the cities decorated with colonial Spanish architecture reminds you of the European colonization that has left it's mark for you to explore.
Like so many travelers I came to Peru to hike the Inca Trail and see the ancient ruins of Machu Picchu. An added bonus was that I was visiting the site on the 100th year anniversary of it's discovery. A dream since I was a kid and on my bucket list for a long time, I had long last had the opportunity to experience it all. And I was not disappointed. Ancient Inca ruins in and around Cuzco opened my eyes to how advance the Inca culture were. Along with mountain biking in the Andean mountains, this trip was a physically adventurous tour de force that I was glad to have undertaken.
